A Data Engineer at Two Circles plays a key role in our team of engineers helping to design, build, test and support Data and BI solutions for the world’s largest sports organisations.
Candidates will have a passion for technology, and help drive innovative solutions for clients, always pushing for higher standards and better quality. Hands on with our Azure tech stack you will gain experience with every aspect including ADF, Logic apps, Data bricks, Python & Pyspark, Azure SQL, Azure analysis services and power BI. Working within a talented team of engineers you will have huge opportunities to both learn and help mentor junior members. Delivery is managed using Agile methodologies and you will embody the principles of integration, innovation, learning, communication and teamwork.
Core responsibilities
- Designing, building and unit testing aspects of data services, from ingestion, through harmonisation and transformation into business usable analytics
- Input into high level design and responsibility for low level design
- Hands on development of data pipelines using ADF, Python, Pyspark and SQL
- Thorough and high-quality automated Unit testing
- Input into Integration, regression and use case testing
- Creation of accurate, insightful & informative technical documentation
- Support and Maintenance of our Data management and Analytics solutions
- Protecting the data entrusted to us by our clients at all times
- Internal mentoring and helping define learning pathways within the team
What we’re looking for
- A passion for technology with a flair for finding innovative solutions
- A talent for design with a keen eye for detail, structured thinking and best practice
- Ability to identify and analyse business, client or project requirements and translating them into technical deliverables
- Experience developing Data solution with the following technical skills: Data Modelling/Warehousing (Kimball), ideally in the Analytics space; Python; Spark/Pyspark or Pandas; SQL, ideally Microsoft SQL; Automated Unit Testing, ideally Pytest
- Source control including branching, merging & pull requests ideally using GIT
- API/Integration experience, understanding of REST, SOAP principals
- Great self-starting attitude and keen to join an entrepreneurial organisation where every working day is different
- Driven, motivated and inspiring with the ability to mentor & nurture
- Awareness of Data Protection, Privacy and Governance principles, e.g. GDPR
- A team player who contributes to collective goals.
Experience of the following would also be beneficial
- Working within an Agile delivery framework
- Object Orientated design experience
- Azure Data Factory
- Azure Function Apps
- Azure Logic Apps
- Dev Ops Pipelines or CI/CD – build, maintain or run
- Azure Databricks/Spark Cluster understanding/management
- Python App Framework (ideally Django)
- DAX, SSAS tabular or Power Bi.
